AP Michael Balz meets the SJO Champions
The 2017 Champions program has started with a class of 16 colleagues. The Champion’s program is a 7-month learning journey made of courses and live sessions where high performing colleagues gain a deeper understanding of the Firm, its Values, and gain a new set of skills while expanding their network.
In May the Champions had a Leadership session with Dean Czuma, Director of Global Shared Services and Michael Balz, Associate Partner from the New Jersey office. The session was quite casual and fun.

EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Plan
Why did you join the brigade?
Ruth Garache: “I wanted to learn skills to be able to deal with an alert, and to know what to do if someone needed help. I think this can make a huge difference, being able to act fast can save not only your life but someone else's life as well. I believe it's essential to be aware of what could happen and understand how to keep yourself and others safe”.
What did you learn during the training?
“We learned basic skills and knowledge to be able to offer vital assistance before more experienced help arrives. This training helped us to be aware of health and safety standards that we need to meet in our workplace. We had practical exercises to learn how to recognize life-threatening situations, how to assess a scene, looking after ourselves and the victim. How to contact the Medical Emergency Service, basic anatomy and medical terminology that will help us to correctly handle and deliver patients to paramedics. We learned about personal protective equipment needed, and how to use it.
Facilities is focused on all topics related with EHS. There is a plan based on three pillars.
